Dear Sh Raj Nath Ji

1.     With serious concern we wish to bring to your notice a murderous attack on Maj Gen  & Mrs Lalji Tandon (Retired) at his residence in Dehradun on 25 Oct 2015.  A mail received from Dehradun from our representative is enclosed which is self-explanatory. 

2.     It is an extremely serious matter if Military Veterans protesting for implementation of OROP are attacked to intimidate them and put undue pressure. 

3.     You are aware of the murder of father of one of the serving soldier at Dadri (UP). 

4.    You are requested to take measures and issue directions for the safety and security of the Defence Personnel both serving and retired and their members of the families.  It is the duty of Govts, both at Centre and at State to protect the families of soldiers who, serve under difficult conditions and are protecting the integrity and sovereignty of the Country both while in service and after retirement. 

5.  Strict Implementation of your directions in this regard will be appreciated.

We went to Kotdwar for an ES meeting. WE returned late. Lt Gen Lalji reached his home by 8 P.M. His house was locked. When the door was opened he found himself & his wife as well as all household servants captive by two 22 yr old pistol armed youth - one with a bandana & the other exposed. he latter claimed he was a dropout of B tech Karachi & had taken up the profession of killing. His mission was to kill the Gen & some others. He asked whether he campaigned for OROP. He asked if acche din had arrived? Saving grace was that Gen & mrs kept cool addressing them as beta. Demand was for over Rs 1 cr. they ransacked the house. took Rs 4 to 5000 & jewellery. They sprinkled two bottles of petrol on the carpet & on their feet threatening to set them on fire. The couple stayed cool.  The boys tied them up & taped their mouth. They took the adopted girl as hostage. They were w/o veh. They threatened to kill the girl if Police was informed before 11 AM. At 7 AM the girl safely returned in an auto. SSP visited the Gen. Sub Area GoC was informed. Police placed in house. Investigation under progress. Gen not slept since last night 8 PM.
