After nine soldiers died in Siachen after being buried alive in an avalanche that struck their post on the world's highest battlefield, the focus is back on Siachen and its difficult terrain, extremely poor and harsh conditions in which our soldiers defy nature in the line of duty. While Lance Naik Hanamanthappa Koppad was miraculously dug out alive, the bodies of nine others were recovered on February 9. Koppad, who was admitted to Army hospital after being rescued alive three days ago from beneath tonnes of snow six days after an avalanche hit his post in Siachen at an altitude of 19,600 feet, died on February 11. This is a base where only men with guts of steel volunteer to come and serve and when they leave the Siachen glacier they walk with their head hell high with the expression that men apart each man who is been here is an emperor. Over the next half hour in this episode, we will show you how the gunner boss of the caliber of his guns, the engineer of his construction, the signal men of his communication, and above all else, it is the infantry men on those icy heights of the Saltoro Range, who stands silently with victory under their feet
