         Babus Are Killing Our Country
               We Need to Stop This.

The corruption in the bureaucracy  unfortunately  has become an accepted fact in India. After shedding the uniform and having settled down in the civil street, I have heard from my friends and family, many instances of  such rampant corruption. Unfortunately, an average Indian is so numbed by such prevalent and massive corruption, that he accepts it as his Karma, rather than try and fight the system. That adds to the scale of this tragedy. I am sure the instances mentioned below are only the tip of the legendary iceberg.

Babus are killing our country, and we need to stop this

Money laundering, Corruption, taking bribe, causing financial loss to the government, possessing disproportionate assets, irregularities to involvement in various scams etc charges were registered against 147 IAS Officers was revealed when a Hisar-based RTI activist Ramesh Verma had sought details of bureaucrats against whom there were serious charges in 2014.

If that’s not alarming enough than this news is more shocking nearly 100 IAS officers came under the CBI scanner in the last five years for their alleged involvement in various corruption cases with the Central Government according sanction to prosecute 66 of them. Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Jitendra Singh had informed in a written response in the Rajya Sabha in 2015.

The biggest culprits, in corruption and bad governance, are babus (IAS public servants).

They are killing the country.

They are road blocks on anything, any reform, any change for the better, any involvement of common man in governance.

Any thing that improves life of the people is threat to their corruption.

Incompetence, dereliction of duty, unaccountability, political biases, out right corruption seems to have become the hall mark of babudom.

CM Yogi, shuffling IAS officers in UP for want of improving governance, is a very appropriate example of incompetence.

It is now that babudom's corruption is being brought out and babus are punished. We have many cases where babus were caught and punished.

Rajendra Kumar's (of Delhi) corruption is such an example.

Here are some published stories to give you a feel of the treacherous activities of IAS men/ women:

The response of an anonymous civil servant to a question posed on Quora on an IAS officer’s lifestyle has gone viral on social media.
2. Bad Apples in Babudom:

India Today took the RTI route to probe the status of long-pending cases against IAS officers, only to discover that even in corruption some are more equal than others.

It is very difficult to suspect an IAS Officer at a preliminary level. Some are successful in shielding themselves from the eyes of the law, while some get caught in the process.

Both George Fernandes and the Kargil war were in the news for different reasons last week.

The buck stops here, in (IAS) officers’ pockets Of the total 5,000 plus IAS officers across the country, many are so corrupt that they would laugh if reminded of their oath to serve the nation.

10. IAS Association Should Hold A Poll And Name 3 Most Corrupt IAS Officers!

IAS Officers are the topmost civil servants in India. An IAS officer vowed to serve the nation, before he joined the office but due to conspiracy, fraudulence and corruption led him/her to ditch the vows and then he becomes a leech who sucked the development and growth of the country.

What is the government doing about it? The govt needs to quickly formulate policies to punish corrupt and incompetent.

Some suggestions:

1. Dismissal of corrupts, and jail, with recovery of losses from the family of babu, because the entire family enjoyed the fruits of corruption without batting an eyelid.

2. Lateral entry of domain experts, technically proven people in management, operations etc.

3. Changing recruitment methodology of babus, something like ARMY.

4. Compulsory posting on the borders as part of ARMY for 2 years, every 7 years.

5. Promotions only on performance, with only 30% promoted every time.

6. Severe punishment on incompetence.

7. Jail for dereliction of duty (OH, we will need 5 more Tihar jails).

8. Working conditions to be changed, make them accountable not only for work but also for the corruption of their juniors.

9. All cases of corruption to be dealt with within six months.

10. No govt or govt related employment after retirement.
